北京大学大纽约地区校友会选出董事会成员并推出新活动计划
七月九日，北京大学大纽约地区校友会(PKUAAGNY)执行委员会及部分董事会成员在曼哈顿聚会商讨本会未来计划。
校友会会长楼新跃首先向大家介绍了他和副会长张苏华，赵睿最近参加的在休斯顿举行的北京大学全美校友会代表大会的情况。本届代表大会的最大新闻是纽约校友会赢得2011年北大全美校友会代表大会的主办权。
北京大学大纽约地区校友会董事会主席邓琨强调校友会有两个主要使命，其一是服务校友，其二是服务母校，两者都很重要且互补。
北大教授及教育基金会副秘书长许诤老师从JFK机场直接赶来参加会议。她探讨了将全美校友会代大会范围扩大的想法，将大会对所有感兴趣的校友及朋友开放。她还对募捐及活动组织提供了许多议。
本次会议还正式确认了北京大学大纽约地区校友会董事会人选。董事会成员朱杭，郭胜北，周斐，秦兵，丁雷，徐鹰出席了会议并表达了他们借助其成就及资源为校友会服务的愿望。新任董事会成员由会长楼新跃提名，并经参加会议的北京大学大纽约地区校友会领导团队批准。加上新当选的成员，校友会董事会目前还包括梅振才，石新平，吴刚，王光宇，汤漪，裔锦声，程沅，邹周和史跃年。
副会长周洪通报了将在八月二十九日举行的由十四个专业及校友会组织共同举办的高层次金融论坛的情况。会议主题为"中美金融行业的机遇和挑战"，将有中美双方高层次主讲人参加。有关会议的详细情况将陆续推出。如有意为会议做志愿服务，请与周洪电邮联系： zhouhong1970@hotmail.com.

PKUAAGNY Elected Board Directors and Planned New Initiatives
On July 9, the Executive Committee and some key Board members of Peking University Alumni Association of Greater New York (PKUAAGNY) met in Manhattan to discuss future plans.
Daniel Lou, president of PKUAAGNY first debriefed all on the recent Peking University US-Based Alumni Association Congress in Houston he attended together with vice presidents Sam Zhang and Rui Zhao. The biggest news coming from the Houston conference is that the New York alumni association has won the bid to host the next Peking University US-Based Alumni Congress in 2011.
Kun Deng, the chairman of the board of PKUAAGNY emphasized that there are two main purposes of the alumni association, one is to serve the alumni, and the other is to serve the alma mater, and both are important and they can also reinforce each other.
Beida Professor and deputy general secretary of Beida Education Foundation Zheng Xu made to the meeting directly from the JFK airport. She talked about the idea of broadening the scope of US-Based Alumni Association Congress, making it available to all alumni and friends who are interested. She also offered many ideas about fund raising, event organization, etc.
The meeting also formalized the board of PKUAAGNY. Board directors Steve Zhu, Shengbei Guo, Fei Zhou, Bing Qin, Lei Ding and Ying Xu attended the meeting and expressed their willingness to contribute to the alumni association, leveraging their accomplishments and resources. New board nominations were made by PKUAAGNY president Daniel Lou and approved by the PKUAAGNY leadership team attending the meeting. Including the newly elected members, PKUAAGNY board now also has Gene Mei, Scott Shi, George Wu, Gary Wang, Yi Tang, Jeannie Yi, Yuan Cheng, Joe Zou, and Eric Shi.
Vice president Hong Zhou informed of the high level financial conference to be held on August 29th, 2009, co-organized by PKUAAGNY and other 14 professional and university alumni associations. The conference theme will be: Opportunities and Challenges to the Financial Industry in US and China”, with high level speakers from both US and China. Please stay tuned for more details.
