北京大学大纽约地区校友会获得2011年第五届全美北大校友大会主办权
2009年6月26-27日在休斯顿召开的第四届全美北京大学校友会代表大会上，北京大学大纽约地区校友会(PKUAAGNY) 荣获2011年北京大学美国校友大会主办权。
现任北大校长周其凤及前任校长许智宏参加了此次大会。周校长向与会的九个美国北大校友会通报了将北大办成世界一流大学努力的最新进展及未来方向。他还要求美国的北大校友会拓宽并深化其对校友提供的服务(例如：不仅为已成为专业人士或企业家的校友们提供服务，也要对在校学生或退休校友提供服务)。
许校长探讨了北大校友会的历史，最近取得的成就及未来发展方向。他着重指出北大至今已培养了约二十五万毕业生，北大校友会正积极建立一个高质量的校友数据库。他并鼓励校友们注册申请北大校友卡。有关北大校友卡详情，请点击这里。
北京大学大纽约地区校友会会长楼新跃，副会长张苏华，赵睿参加了本次北大美国校友大会。楼新跃代表北京大学大纽约地区校友会领导团队介绍了校友会概况及最近活动。他还提交了主办第五届全美北京大学校友会代表大会的申请，并赢得了包括两位与会北大校长在内的所有15票的压倒性一致支持。
在第四届全美北京大学校友会代表大会会议期间举行的北大募捐晚会上，北京大学大纽约地区校友会副会长张苏华力挫群雄，压倒所有竟拍者，拍得由姚明及休斯顿火箭队其他队员签名的篮球。他向北京大学教育基金会(美国)个人捐赠2700美元，并宣示将在纽约举行的第五届全美北京大学校友会代表大会上将此珍贵篮球用于募捐活动。

PKUAAGNY Won the Bid to Host the 5th Peking University Alumni Congress in the United States
At the 4th Peking University US -Based Alumni Association Congress that took place in Houston on June 26-27, Peking University Alumni Association of Greater New York (PKUAAGNY) won the bid to host the 5th Peking University US-Based Alumni Association Congress to be held in 2011.
Both current Beida president Zhou Qifen and former president Xu Zhihong attended this congress. President Zhou updated leaders from nine US-based Peking University alumni associations on recent developments and future directions to make Beida a first class university in the world. He also asked the US-based Peking University alumni associations to broaden and deepen their services to alumni (e.g. not only serving alumni who have become professionals or entrepreneurs but also those who are still in
schools or have retired).
Former president Xu discussed the history, recent accomplishments, and future directions of Peking University Alumni Association (PKUAA). He highlighted that Beida has produced approximately 250,000 graduates to date and PKUAA is diligently establishing a high quality alumni database. Representing PKUAAGNY, President Daniel Lou and Vice Presidents Sam Zhang and Rui Zhao attended the Congress. On behalf of PKUAAGNY leadership team, Daniel presented an overview on the organization and its recent activities. He also made the bidding proposal to host the 5th Peking University US -Based Alumni Association Congress and won overwhelming support with all 15 votes, including those from both Beida presidents.
At the fund raising Peking University Gala affiliated with the 4th Peking University US-Based Alumni Association Congress, PKUAAGNY Vice President Sam Zhang outbid everyone else and brought back a basketball that was signed by Yao Ming and the rest of the Houston Rockets basketball team. He made a personal donation in the amount of $2,700 to Peking University Education Foundation (USA) and pledged to make this basketball available for fund raising activity at the 5th Peking University US -Based Alumni Association Congress to be held at New York in 2011.
